MediaCollege - an excellent set of tutorials for all aspects of media production.

BBC Film Making Guide This site has an excellent guide to short film making. Some parts of it are not relevant to the kind of project you will make for A2 Media Studies, but you may learn a lot from it about the film-making process

Advanced Portfolio

This is a coursework module which accounts for 25% of your A Level marks. The OCR specification allows for a choice of briefs. These are tasks based around a specific medium. We have chosen to follow a brief in Film. For this you will need to produce a short film in its entirity (5 minutes in length). This should build upon the skills acquired at AS Level and demonstrate more demanding skills in filming and editing. Once the film is complete you will be expected to gather audience feedback and produce complementary materials for your work. These materials will take the form of a Poster to advertise your film and a Magazine Film Review to offer a critical perspective.

Over the course you will develop skills in screen writing, planning, filming and editing using near industry standard video equipment. By Easter you will have produced research and planning materials on your blog, a short film, a poster, a magazine review and a multimedia evaluation of your work. This will be marked by us and then submitted to OCR for moderation.

For details of each task please follow the link to the film production pages. Materials used for planning and evaluation can be found on the planning and evaluation pages.
